Student resume: prove potential with evidence
The examples below demonstrate effective structure. Never copy figures or skills you cannot verify.
Professional summary — example
Third-year finance student developing Excel and Power BI analysis skills. Built a cost model for four scenarios in a team project and presented recommendations in a top-graded presentation. Seeking an internship that uses analysis and attention to detail.
What to include without a full-time role
Use academic projects, student organisations, volunteering, part-time work, competitions and personal projects. Each entry should explain the objective, your role, tools and outcome rather than just naming a course.
Skills backed by evidence
Instead of rating Excel at 90%, state what you can do: pivot tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query or modelling. Use one consistent language scale. A course without a practical project should not replace hands-on evidence.
One page and the right order
One page is enough for most students. Put the strongest of education or experience first. Remove primary school, random interests and personal data an employer does not need.
